Abstract
The Lee Myung-bak Administration, launched in February 2008, suggested a national vision of an advanced, top-notch country. With creative practicality as its basic philosophy, the Administration set up policy goals of economic advancement, improved qualityy of life, and national dignity, so that Korea should join the ranks of advanced states. But the Lee Administration faced difficulties due to unexpected internal and external events, including the consequences of environmental changes. In the beginning, the administration had to cope with the mad cow disease, which provoked many Korean people to join candlelight vigils and protests over a long term, and the administration had to manage the consequences of the worldwide financial turbulence.
