Who we are

K-Developedia is an open access repository that contains more than 35,000 resources on Korean development experience.


The ‘K’ in K-Developedia stands for Korea, while the word ‘Developedia’ is a compound of Development and Encyclopedia. The term can be defined as an encyclopedia covering all types of resources related to Korea's development experience.

History & Vision

As Korea’s remarkable economic growth for the past 70 years has captured the attention of the world, the demands for sharing the knowledge of Korea’s development have increased. To meet the demands by providing credible resources on a single platform, K-Developedia was launched by KDI (Korea Development Institute) School of Public Policy in November 2012, under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance.


Based on the belief that resource sharing is equivalent to knowledge sharing, through which development can be generated in a most cost-effective way in developing countries, K-Developedia strives to provide easy access to resources of Korea’s development to researchers and decision makers around the world and assist them set up policies and strategies for their countries.

Progress

In 2013, K-Developedia started providing services on mobile devices and upgraded functions for user’s convenience. In 2014, K-Developedia enhanced its contents by including multimedia contents and English translation of Korean abstracts. In 2015, Themes section was launched, aiming to provide tailored contents to our audience based on their needs and interests.

Features

  • K-Developedia allows users to free access to 35,000 full texts, photos, and videos on Korea’s development experience.
  • Resources include Korea’s policy document, development cases, comparative studies and development assistance programs implemented by Korea for partner countries.
  • Materials are classified by six key topics in development – Economy, Industry and Technology, Territorial Development, Social Development, Government and Law and Official Aid.
  • Types of resources include reports, academic journals with open access, proceedings, statistics, pictures, video materials and oral data.
  • Resources are selected and updated daily by our advisory committee, which consists of scholars and experts in development fields.

    Users can search resources by their title, material type, publisher, abstract, contents, category, country, and series title through Advanced search function.

  • Result filtering

    Result filtering function enables users to sort the search results by category, year, material type, publisher and language.

  • Synonyms

    Users can easily access other resources through the Synonyms function which collates resources related to the original search term.

  • Cross-reference

    K-Developedia has a cross-reference function in which users are provided with a variety of methods for finding related search results, making it easier to collect wanted materials.

  • Related documents

    Related documents function enables users to find additional resources which are found relevant to the particular search result.
