2014 Mid-Career Training Program for IAS Officers: Korea Study Tour
This program is part of the largest mid-career education reform undertaken by the Government of India for its elite public service, the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).  The Government of India has devolved the responsibility of designing and delivering the various phases of Mid-Career Training Program to the LBS National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA). The LBSNAA has been closely associated with the foreign visits to South Korea organized in collaboration with the Korea Development Institute (KDI) since 2007.

This is the Phase III program that the LBSNAA is developing for the Government of India. The LBSNAA is engaged in an exciting project to provide training to Indian Administrative Service officers at the policy development level. The program includes a 6-week training program in India, 2 weeks of site visits in abroad, and a policy project.

The presentations site visit exposes the Indian officers to Korean culture and allows hands-on experience of Korea’s rapid development, often referred to as the “Miracles of the Han-River.” Korea’s fast paced socio-economic development is unprecedented and unlike advanced nations. India has thus chosen to benchmark Korean economic development model. The program will focus on Korea’s economic development policy and social infrastructure investments, as well as introduction to the Korean culture, economy and society.
