Program schedule

1st International Conference on
Science, Technology, Innovation and Development:

Innovations for Shared Prosperity

□ Introduction

There is a growing recognition regarding a role of science, technology and innovation (STI) in national development, while developing countries, in particular least developed countries, are lagging behind in generating and applying scientific knowledge and technology.

Scientific advances and technological innovation have brought about remarkable growth in industrial production, economic expansion and better living conditions over the world. At the same time, we can observe the phenomenon that technology transfer and STI international cooperation sometimes fails to live up to expectations. There is urgent need, therefore, to analyze and learn from stories of both success and failure regarding how the STI ecosystem can be further developed in developing countries and how STI can play a meaningful role in international development cooperation.
