Dear CoP members,

Today we bring Knowledge Hubs an interview with Koun Hyoung-joon, a Director General of the K-Water Academy.

K-water (Korea Water Resources Corporation) is a public agency specialized in efficient water resources management since its establishment by Korean government in 1967. Through an era of rapid change, industrialization, and urbanization of Korea, K-water has been providing a solid foundation for improved quality of life and economic development by striving to protect the lives and properties of the people of Korea from ‘water-related disasters’ such as floods and droughts and by supplying clean and safe tap water over the past 49 years. Moreover, K-water operates dams and water supply & drainage systems, produces hydro-generated green energy, and provides all inclusive total solutions and services related to water.

K-water Academy, as a part of K-water, trains over 20,000 employees annually, which includes government officials, private sector employees, as well as foreign officials from developing countries to foster water management experts. Through field-oriented training programs with capable faculty members and widely experienced in-house instructors, the academy provides hands-on practical knowledge through use of the operation and pilot plant facilities.

Koun Hyoung-joon has been working at the K-Water since 1987 and currently he is a Director General of the K-Water Academy. Read how K-Water Academy has become the biggest water education institution in Korea in today's interview below.
