Introduction
Korea has achieved remarkably rapid economic growth over the past 50 years, which is regarded as an unprecedented and momentous success story in global economic history. Well-educated, high quality human resources were a key factor that transformed one of the world’s poorest nations into a major economy. Technical vocational education and training (TVET) has played a significant role in supplying skilled technical manpower to support economic development.
In particular, the Korean government implemented vocational education and training policies effectively in coordination with the national economic development plans. As a result, Korea transformed from being an agrarian economy into one of the leading economies in the world, relying heavily on export-driven, high-tech industries.
And in 2010, Korea gained entry into OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC), making it the first country to become donor after being a recipient for a number of years. Hence, Korea is in a good position to share its experience and know-how especially with developing countries and support their endeavors to foster economic development.
As part of KRIVET's international cooperation activities, KRIVET is organizing a two-week workshop, TVET & HRD Workshop for Nigerian Experts 2010.
Participants  High Level TVET Experts from Nigeria
Date  August 16~27, 2010
Venue  Imperial Palace Hotel, Seoul, Korea
Purpose of Workshop   The Main purpose of this project is to assist the development of Nigeria's technical vocational education and training (TVET) by conducting a short-term workshop for the leaders and policy makers in the TVET field.
 - To provide an opportunity for participants to learn from Korea's experience of developing TVET and HRD sectors at various stages of the nation's economic growth
 - To assist Nigeria in making guided efforts in their pursuit for a successful and stable system of TVET and HRD especially at the secondary level
 - To provide an opportunity for exchange of ideas, knowledge and experience
Participants   The workshop is mainly targeted at TVET policymakers, high level officials, experts in vocational education in Nigeria including University of Nigeria, Federal Polytechnic, Federal Science and Technical College and National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). The beneficiaries should have the capacity to disseminate the learning outcome of this workshop to make a positive and tangible impact on policy direction, policy making, and policy implementation, all of which will contribute toward the development of TVET in Nigeria.
