The 5th Asia-Pacific Forum on Development and Gender
「Towards Gender Equality in the Aisa-Pacific Region」

With the increasign emphasis on the role of gender in development assistance, South Korea, an emerging doner and member of the OECD/DAC, ahs been expanding its efforts to support the principles for gender equality and women's empowerment in its development aid intiaties. Accordingly, Korean Women's Development Institute(KWDI) has focused on advising the government to incorporate gender-sensitive perspectives in South Korea's assistance to developing countries.

As a part of these efforts, KWDI annually hosts an international forum with an objective of mainstreaming gender in development assistance. This year, we are delighted to invite you to the 5th Asia-Pacific Forum on Development and Gender (AP Forum hereafter) to be held on September 13, 2013. Under the theme of "Towards Gender Equality in the Aisa-Pacific Region: Current Efforts and Future Tasks," experts from UN Women are invited to share their knowledge and experience, while KWDI will present its acitivits in advancing gender equality in the Aisa-Pacific Reigon.

The AP Forum of this year is especially designed in line with "2013 KWDI Set and Share the Agenda for Gender Equality (SSAGE) Workshop." this is an annual workshop and a main pilar of KWDI's multi-year ODA research project with Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar and Vietnam. Bye scheduling the AP Forum on the last day of the 2013 KWDI SSAGE Workshop, about 30 aprticipants from Myanmar and Vietnam will also join the Forum.
