2013 KDI-IADB Workshop
「Economic Development Policy」

The fast and sustained economic growth of developing countries has been accompanied by a deepening of economic and cooperation relations between them. Developing countries have become important development cooperation donors and are offering, not only economic aid, but also the exchange of successful experiences with other countries which face similar development challenges.

South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSC) gained important visibility and prominence in the High Level forum which took place in Busan, Korea, in 2011, where participants from Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) played the roles of moderators and panelists. At the same time, many countries of LAC have demonstrated their commitment with SSC through the creation of International Cooperation Agencies and Units to manage both self capacities and demand.

This Workshop on Economic Development Policy, organized by the IADB and the KDI School, with financial resources from the Knowledge Partnership Korea Fund for Technology and Innovation managed by the IADB; will cover key questions such as:
  • Which lessons can be learnt from the experience of Korean economic development, and how could these lessons be replicated in this new international context?
  • Which is the role of SSC in the development paradigm after the High Level Forum of Busan?
  • Which are the experiences of Korea in international cooperation for development, and in terms of its transition from cooperation recipient to cooperation donor? How can these experiences adapt to LAC countries?
  • What has been the institutional evolution of KOICA?
