Korea’s IT development and its implication to Vietnam

Therefore, IT is no longer just a tool of the developed countries, but as vital to developing countries as they transitions to knowledge-based economies in the 21st century. However, the knowledge gap between developed and developing countries plays an increasing role in binding the underprivileged to the poverty cycle. The Knowledge Partnership (KP) Project therefore aims to close this gap by sharing the experience and know-how of Korea’s development with other developing countries. The purpose of this report is to compile the results of the collaborative efforts between experts of Korea and Vietnam which formulated a strategic framework for sharing knowledge and experience in e-learning system. The report provides an overview of the IT industry and its significance in the future economy, the start-up period of Vietnam’s IT industry, role of cooperation with Korea in the development of Vietnam, among others. As such, the publication of this report as the final step to this particular Knowledge Partnership (KP) Project, seeks to present the findings from surveys and the experiences of the consultants so that this material can assist in the sharing of knowledge with other partners of development. Therefore, the ultimate goal of this report and KP project as a whole is for IT advancement to accelerate in Vietnam, assisted by cooperative measures with Korea, so that both Vietnam and Korea will become more internationalized in the conte
