evaluate the importance of intra-industry trade in this sector. Most of the previous studies of intra-industry trade are explained by new economic geography models associated with economies of scale and monopolistic competition encompass on endogenous difference between countries.1) These models suggest that countries having identical relative endowments but differing in market size, engage in inter-industry trade with the larger country a net exporter in the increasing returns sector. Meanwhile, m o s t previous discussions on intra-industry trade have focused on manufacturing sectors in spite of its growing importance.
