Green growth and green industry development in Korea : Scope and policy directions from Korean perspectives

Namely, green growth is the concept of securing new growth opportunity by making economic growth patterns eco-friendly.” The conceptual scope of green growth and green industry development for the Korean economy was first suggested by the Presidential Council for Future & Vision and National Policy Planning Division of the Blue House (Korean presidential residence) last year. The present version of the scope of green growth and green industry development, slightly different from its former version, is composed of three major aspects and several key directions for green growth. We may properly call this the “framework of the Korean model for green growth and green industry development”. In the following, we first present in details of this framework, and then suggest plans and projects in setting the framework by the Korean government. These ideas provide a benchmark of the scope and contents of green growth and green industry development from a Korean perspective. Finally, we conclude with some remarks on relevant policy implications.
2. Conceptual Scope of Green Growth and Green Industry Development in Korea
