innovation and product differentiation, so mature and sophisticated markets tend to coexist in these industries. This means that the technological c o m p e t i t i v e n e s s as well as price competitiveness may be crucial in determining the competitiveness of these industries. The IT and BT industries as new technological industries are dealt with in this study.1) The second chapter addresses trends in the unit values of exports and i m p o r t s , terms of trade, followed by the third chapter, where the competitiveness of Korea’s new technology industries is analyzed. The final chapter deals with the summary and policy suggestions.
