Future investment opportunities and strategies for Korea's ten leading industries

Frame of Image duces changes in the employment environment, leading to large-scale long-term stimulation of economic growth potential. Therefore, private investment is particularly important to countries such as Korea, which is highly dependent on its manufacturing sector. S t i m u l a t i n g the investment environment by resolving structural problems not only by ensuring adequate investment capacity, but addressing the lack of investment projects through measures a i m e d at providing companies with attractive i n v e s t m e n t opportunities in the future have emer ged as critical strategic challenges to be undertaken by the Korean economy. In the following chapters, this paper proposes strategic investment areas and directions for the ten leading manufacturing industries1) based on short-term (2010) and long-term(2015) perspectives.
2. Analysis of the Development Stages and I n v e s t m e n t Patterns in the Top Ten Industries
(1) Stage of Industrial Development and Global Positioning Korea’ economic development has been achieved s through the transition from a factor-driven to an investment-driven economy. However, the future investment environment is expected to focus on knowledge-based industries stressing technology innovation, reflecting current industrial development and structural changes in the economy.
