This time was the period during which an international mood of deregulation began to be formed. The main motive for Korea’s pushing forward with regulatory reform was its accordance with this international trend of deregulation. The present marks the point in time when nearly 20 years has passed since a regulatory reform policy was launched in Korea, so it would be meaningful to review the policy transitions and per formance of regulatory reform in Korea and to discuss relevant future policy issues. In this paper, we review the policy transitions
and achievements of regulatory reform in Korea and discuss related policy issues ahead. We begin by reviewing the transition of regulatory reform policy and its systemic implementation in each d i m e n s i o n of Korean Government. Then, we inquire into the performance of Korea’s regulatory reform. Finally, we discuss the regulatory reform policy issues confronting Korea.
