Revitalizing the textile industry through human resource development

As a result, the textile industry is making efforts to improve its failing position by constructing the system that could help to produce high value added products. The textile industry tries to capture the world mid-tech products market by developing differentiated brands and new marketing strategies. Also, leading companies of the industry explore some of high-tech and high-growth areas. These strategies are expected to help the industry to advance towards a higher position in the new global division of labor. The revitalization of the textile industry is vital, since the share of the industry in the Korean economy is still large, especially in the area of employment. The employment share of the textile industry in relation to the whole manufacturing industry was 12% in 2003.
