Abstract

This paper examines how gender and stratum consciousness affects discrimination. Many
studies about sex role and equality of sexes show that women have more progressive and equal attitude to other issues and groups than men have. Considering these results, we can say that different socialization process experienced by women and women's relative lower
positions makes them have that attitude. In addition to that, if a vital variable is not the individual but the group with which people are identified, the stratum consciousness would affect
the discriminatory practices. Conclusively speaking, this paper finds some difference by
the sex in some categories and the stratum identification in other categories. Also it also finds some differences in prejudice and stereotype by the stratum identification. However there are
something unsolved and to be examined more closely.
