Korea’s green growth strategy : An international dimension

Especially, with regard to the international dimension of its Green Growth Initiative, Korea has been pursuing a set of bold foreign policies in the following issue areas: First, internationalization of green growth strategy: working in close cooperation with the OECD and other international organizations to develop and disseminate a set of new economic policy instruments that would facilitate developing countries’ transition to a green growth development paradigm; Second, constructive engagement in international climate negotiations: actively taking part in, and contributing

to, the UN climate negotiations toward the establishment of the post-Kyoto international climate regime; Third, initiation of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI): leading the international efforts to support green growth policies of developing world by establishing an international entity that would provide policy guidance, financial resources, and technological expertise; Fourth, launch of a bold bilateral cooperation initiative called the East Asia Climate Partnership (EACP): leading developing countries toward greener economy by broadening and deepening official developmental assistance (ODA) in the area of green growth.
