Preface
The study of Korea’s economic and social transformation offers a unique opportunity to better understand the factors that drive development. Abstract

In this report, the development of the immunization program in the Republic of (South) Korea, hereafter “Korea,” is examined from the 1950s up to present. This report also examined policies that were enacted to provide immunization services in a situation where there was a low level of awareness and participation by the general public. It is also our intention that this report can be used as a reference for countries that do not have sufficient resources to treat communicable diseases or for countries that have only recently introduced immunization policies. In addition, by detailing the prevention of perinatal hepatitis B transmission, the eradication of measles, and the experiences of fighting H1N1 influenza, we also want to share Korea’s experiences in coping effectively with new infectious diseases as they are discovered. Every individual’s life is precious. (The rest omitted)
