Abstract

The complex phenomenon of increasing labor mobility brought about by globalization
and the natural ability of Filipinos to move where greener pastures are, transport them to
places all over the globe. Korea, like most developed countries in need of skilled labor, plays
host to thousands of temporary migrant workers from the Philippines as industrial trainee in the 1990s and now as full-time workers under the Employment Permit System (EPS). This study aims to investigate whether Filipino workers are in better working and living conditions under the EPS.
