One thing is sure about public enterprises in Korea and that is that economists have not paid due attention to them, despite their strategic quantitative importance in the national economy.
This outstanding piece of scholarly work on Korean public enterprises is thus seminal in demonstrating the importance of the sector and providing a framework for systematic analysis. I an hopeful that this monograph will appeal to a large audience, including both policy makers and academics, so that future issues in this sector will be discussed systematically rather than on an ad hoc basis.
