Abstract

The case studies in this report aim to strengthen the capacity of policymakers, energy planners, development practitioners and the private sector to identify, assess and utilize diverse types of policy instruments to support green growth as part of their national low emissions development goals. The aim is to exchange knowledge and incentivize developing countries to implement actions that can achieve green growth while increasing the effectiveness, efficiency and innovation of greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation.
The concept of green growth isstillrelatively new, which is a kind ofeconomic development strategyto achieve sustainable development; it is worth notingthat raising awareness among policy makers on the rationale for supporting low GHG emissions development strategies through voluntary, regulatory and market-based instruments and how this can spur green growth in their own country is critical. Hence, it is necessary to identify opportunities for innovation in green growth and promote lessons learned and good practices with regard to the implementation of policy instruments for green growth in various sectors, reflecting the local conditions of each country.(The rest omitted)
