Public transport needs to be promoted to increase the efficiency of urban transport and build sustainable urban transport systems. Intelligent transport systems (ITS) are being formulated and implemented with other policies promoting the use of public transport so that they are incorporated with innovative information and communication technologies that continue to evolve. The smart transit card (STC) is acclaimed as a very effective ITS policy that increases public transport convenience. South Korea is one of the countries that has implemented and has been operating its STC with success.
As part of knowledge sharing programs (KSP) and on-going support of ADB for the Thai government to implement the STC project in Bangkok, Korea EXIM Bank jointly conducted the study with an aim to share South Korea’s knowledge and experience on the Integrated STC project with Bangkok and thus to give it some guidance on direction of the Integrated STC project.
