This project aims to support IDB’s Sustainable Emerging Cities Platform by sharing Korea’s experience, knowledge and insights in accelerating the Broadband Internet Connectivity and Smart Cities Initiative aimed at promoting competitiveness and sustainable socioeconomic development of the target cities. By analyzing challenges that the LAC cities are facing, Korea team can share the lessons from best practices and mistakes, so that those cities would not face the same mistakes again and promote their sustainable development of cities in areas such as cities competitiveness, social inclusion, enhancing the quality of life of the inhabitants, etc.
This consulting project will analyze the overall ICT and broadband connectivity environment of the selected cities, provide a set of recommendations and design an action plan aimed at increasing the levels of broadband connectivity and the usage of solutions to reduce the digital divide, increase the socio economic impact in the cities, and promote sustainable urban development.
