1. Green Finance: Concept & Background, International & Domestic Cases
■ Gr e en finance expands on the concepts of environmental or s u s t ainabl e finance adopted abroad. It is tailored to economic grow th, and is grounded in corporate social responsibility and global effor ts to improve environmental quality. ○ In Korea, with 'Low-Carbon Green Growth' designated as the new agenda for economic development, green finance is intended not just to help the environment, but to serve as a new growth driver. ○ The UN Global Compact, ISO 26000, the Kyoto Protocol, and the Equ a t o r Principles, etc. form the primary global criteria for evaluating corporate social responsibility and environmental quality. ■ Green finance has been growing overseas, but is still in its initial stages in Korea. ○ Socially responsible investment has been on the rise, led by Europe and the US. In the Netherlands, low cost funds for green projects are being supplied at the national level through its Green Funds Scheme. ○ Deutsche Bank and Santander are adding green finance for both social responsibility and profit
