Frame of Image tates has already anticipated that automation and manufacturing technologies in the manufacturing sector would lead to global socio-economic development. Next-generation smart manufacturing technology would affect the competition structure among all global industries. Due to the wide use of next-generation smart manufacturing technology, the industrial competitiveness of the United States, Ger many and Japan are expected to improve more quickly than ever. Such a rapidly evolving technology is expected to have a great effect even on employment. As the next-generation smart manufacturing tech nology serves as a substitute not only for routine production and simple office work but also for knowledge-based work, unemployment in the intermediate and professional positions is likely to increase.
Thanks to the widespread softization of social and economic fronts, global industries are apparently undergoing softization reflecting emotion, knowledge, culture and creativity. When it comes to the value chain of the industries, a growing share of value creation is resulting from stages other than the manufacturing stage, which indicates that qualitative and non-physical input matters more than quantitative and physical input. As Korea has a well-developed IT infrastructure, softization of the Korean industries is accelerating at a rapid pace.
