The general awareness running through this study is that, considering the growth stages of the Korean economy and its industrial structure, the productivity and exportation in the service industry are being far left behind those of the manufacturing industry which is not a desirable situation for sustainable growth and enhanced economic welfare.
Part Ⅰ reviews the problems of the service industry, systematically organizes its structural factors, and analyzes the policy direction that must be considered in order to foster proper growth conditions.
PartⅡ, six sectors of the industry such as exhibition, advertising, legal, financial, distribution, and health care/medical are selected to be analyzed with a motive to find problems of each sector, and then it identifies the areas that require policy efforts. These sectors are not selected for their contribution to the economy, value-added, or employment. (The rest omitted)
