With the expansion of EPR items s u b j e c t to recycling and the establishment of recovery/recycling systems, the quantity of recycled items has increased approximately 46% since the commencement of enforcement. In addition, with the enforcement of EPR (2001-2008) total energy r e d u c t i o n s amounted to 3,196,000 TOE, or approximately 2.6 trillion won in electricity costs. Currently, the government is reviewing the e s t a b l i s h m e n t of per capita recycling goals as e n f o r c e d in the EU in consideration of the characteristics of each recyclable item.
