Abstract
This paper aims to introduce Korean experiences of Gender Impact Assessment (GIA) and Gender Budgeting (GB), which were introduced as implementation tools for gender mainstreaming in Korea during the 2000s. In particular, focus is placed on the process of their introduction, the operation mechanisms, challenges in implementation of relevant policies and measures and their major achievements and future tasks. The objective of this paper is to provide examples to KSP partner countries of how the operation of gender mainstreaming in policy planning and execution may be used as a way to achieve greater gender equality in society. At the international level, GIA and GB were first introduced as part of a search for alternative approaches to women’s issues and the promotion of gender equality. (The rest omitted)
