In 2008, Mexico started implementing the multidimensional poverty measurement, which measures income and six social deprivations. It was determined that two of such deprivations should be the focus of the strategic fight to eradicate poverty: educational backwardness and access to health care. These two deprivations and the level of income represent the components that need to be most urgently addressed.
