Abstract

To summarize policy recommendations for the improvement of Mexico’s labor system to enhance its productivity:
1) Regarding the establishment of infrastructure like laws and systems, it is recommended for Mexico to adopt the unemployment insurance system in order to to provide funds needed for improving the labor system. It is also recommended for Mexico to introduce mandatory vocational training;
2) Taking into consideration that there is a lack of vocational training facilities or job centers compared to the vast land, it is necessary to first establish infrastructures like education and training facilities where core job
competencies can be taught;
3) Taking into consideration that Mexico’s public spending on the labor market is very low at 0.01% of the GNP (compared to 0.61% of Korea), it is urgently recommended to expand the budget to adopt labor market policies; (The rest omitted)
