Abstract

The Ministry of Strategy and Finance (MoSF) of the Korean Government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) agreed to conduct a Joint Consulting Project titled “Support for the Establishment of ICT in the Education Sector in Sri Lanka” (hereafter “the Project”) for the Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP) of the Export-Import Bank of Korea (Korea EXIMbank) in order to improve and expand the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in secondary education in Sri Lanka. During the first mission trip for the Project, the KSP Consultants conducted As-Is Analysis of the current status and environment for the use of ICT in secondary education and the overall ICT infrastructure in Sri Lanka. The KSP Consultants also conducted research and analysis of case studies and best practices concerning national education information systems, ICT education infrastructure and the e-Learning systems in Korea. The analysis was conducted for seven domains: 1) education informatization policy, 2) ICT infrastructure, 3) education content, 4) education information standards, 5) ICT training programs and methods, 6) ICT human resources and 7) education information services.
