Abstract

The case studies in this report aim to strengthen the capacity of policymakers, energy planners, development practitioners and the private sector to identify, assess and utilize diverse types of policy instruments to support green growth as part of their national low emissions development goals. The aim is to exchange knowledge and incentivize developing countries to implement actions that can achieve green growth while increasing the effectiveness, efficiency and innovation of greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation. Various international institutions have defined the concept of green growth. It is worth noting that the ROK was one of leading countries to promote green growth initiatives and having made actions on green growth. Recently, most developing countries face the double challenges of achieving economic development and tackling climate change at the same time. We are not certain yet whether green growth may provide opportunities to developing countries to achieve sustainable development, based on their own national priorities and circumstances.
