Frame of Image ational phenomenon and promotion of educational policies. Therefore, KEDI not only collects data on students, teachers, finance, and facilities for each school level including organizations under provincial or municipal Office of Education, Regional Office of Educational Support, and Education Administrative Organization annually, but also participates in the international educational indicators projects to provide international standard indicators. In addition, based on the statistics data produced from the projects, various form of educational statistics data is provided to domestic and foreign users. ‘Brief Statistics on Korean Education’ is an annual statistics source book based on the results of basic educational survey and international statistics. In order to aid the readers to gain a comprehensive overview on the status of Korean education including the general information and major educational indicators, the contents are organized as following: chapter 1. an overall of each school level; chapter 2 & 3. the current status of primary, secondary and tertiary education; chapter 4. the comparison between education in Korea and major OECD countries; chapter 5. the current condition such as educational finance, and public official capacity. I anticipate that this book will be widely used as a basic set of data for educational researchers, and I would like to thank the Ministry of Education, the Competent Authorities, and the KEDI staffs for active support and cooperation.
