From middle to high income economy High income OECD members § Based on the minimum threshold of a high-income economy set by the World Bank at US$12,056 for 2017, there was a gap of 21% before Malaysia would graduate from its upper middle-income nation status. Based on this growth target, per capita income is expected to reach RM47,720 or US$11,700 in 2020, below the estimated minimum income threshold of a high-income nation.
