• Work at older ages is far higher than assumed in standard demographic models …though differences across countries in importance of gender gaps and urban rural gaps • Countries where self-employment is more important show less decline in employment at older ages • Workers with higher education levels withdraw from labor force earlier • In developing EAP, steep decline of labor force participation associated with receiving a pension (issues in pension system design)
