Korea's official development assistance (ODA) marked its 20th anniversary in 2007. The Korean government recognizes that the scale of its ODA is not commensurate with the nation`s economic status and plans to expand its ODA in tandem with national economic growth over the next 5 to 10 years. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of aid policies of advanced and industrialized countries and Korea, an aid recipient for several decades and a relatively newcomer in international development cooperation. It also introduces new analysis methods that have not been attempted in Korea. First, the criteria for evaluating aid effectiveness have been selected on the basis of the laws which mandate the objectives of Korea's bilateral ODA. (The rest omitted)
