During the past several decades, the North-East Asian regions of China, Korea, and Japan has shown tremendous economic dynamism and is now emerging as one of the major economic centers of the world. However, the development of financial and capital markets in the region has not been as successful as the performance of the real sector. With each country at a different stage of economic and financial development, there are many things that we can learn from each other's experience to establish financial systems that are more efficient and which could facilitate economic growth in the region.
In this context, the Korea Development Institute and Seoul National University's Institute of World Economy have jointly organized a "Conference on International Financial Markets in North-East Asia: Assessment and Prospects" under the funding of the Jinro Cultural Foundation. This volume contains proceedings of the conference.
