The Korea Development Institute(KDI) and the Friedrich- Ebert Stiftung(FES) of Germany have jointly organized a research project to assess the impact of European integration on the structure of European industries and trade, and its implications on the performance of Asian economies with a special emphasis on Korea. The project has pulled together five economists form four prestigious economic research institutes in germany and four research fellows from KDI. The conference was held on June 18-19, 1990 at KDI, Seoul to discuss the findings form this research program, The conference drew the participation of a number of Knowledgeable researchers, businessmen, and professors not only from Korea and Germany, but also from other countries in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
This is the proceedings of the conference and presents ten papers and discussions for each of the session, I hope these proceedings contribute to a better understanding of the single European market. I would like to extend my deep gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the conference.
