Abstract
This monograph reports the results of an econometric investigation of the effects of export incentives on exports in Greece and Korea. The estimates cover the period from the first half of the sixties to the late seventies, when Greece -- together with Korea -- could be considered a developing country. The investigation involves estimating export supply and export demand functions from a time series data, when the results obtained by using the relative prices of exports vs. non-export goods can be interpreted to indicate the combined effects of several policy instruments. They include changes in exchange rates, in export incentives, and in import protection. Chapter 1 examines the methodology applied, Chapters 2 and 3 provide the principal econometric results obtained for Greece and Korea, and Chapter 4 evaluates the overall findings and examines their policy implications.
