Abstract

This paper reviews four stylized facts about Korea's development strategy including neutral incentives between sales on the domestic and external markets, large foreign aid flows early on in the choice of development strategy, rising share of domestic saving in GNP, and low incremental capital output ratios. These stylized facts are then incorporated in two simulation models, a dynamic input-output model and a computable general equilibrium model, to examine the macroeconomic implications of Korea's pursuit of alternative development strategies.
