Abstract

To positively react for the global competition developed countries are changing their policies of regional spatial structure. City regions are considered as hubs of the policies in many of the countries. To strengthen competitiveness of city regions importance of improving connectivity among cities is being emphasized. Transportation Infrastructures are critical elements for improving connectivity between places. Especially metropolitan public transportation, such as metropolitan rail transit and express buses, are critical elements for facilitation of peoples' exchanges in daily life. Purposes of the study are, to emphasize importance of the connectivity in city regions, to evaluate effects of construction of metropolitan rapid transit, and to suggest a model of spatial structure of city regions linking transportation and land use.
