The promise of the Information age has begun to unfold. The Government is setting up the new information technology, GIS(Geographical Information System). This new technology is the hope for increasing administration abilities to be more competive. Using new technology is changing the way of spatial decision-making Process, urban facility management style, and map production method.
Then National Geographical Information System (NGIS) initiative seeks to ensure that all Korean can take advantage of the opportunities brought by advanced information technologies and service. Through the NGIS, we can achieve a broad range of economic and social goals.
The NGIS is consist of the following Three system:
(1) The national Spatial Information DataBase (NSID) which is the total ensemble of available geographic information that describes the arrangement and attributes of features and phenomena of the Earth, as well as the materials, technology, and people needed to acquire, process, and distribute such database.
