Abstract

The speed of development in Science and Technology has been faster than
any time period. Also firms make great changes in their innovation activities
based on those technologies since the applications of technologies are more
activated to the industrial areas. Moreover, as the innovation activities of firms
are regarded as the main purpose of a country's sustaining economic growth and
social development, public understandings and interests are more augmented. At
this time, we need study on what elements determine firms' technological
innovations, based on which we can support making government's corporate and
industrial policies. Therefore, we analyze the determinants of technological
innovations in manufacturing industries and suggest more specific and realistic
policies.
The main contents in this study are composed that (1) technological
innovation activities and determinants in firms, (2) cyclical patterns in R&D
investment, (3) the effects of patents on technological innovation, (4) corporate
governance and technological innovation, (5) the effects of firm size and market
structure on technological innovation, (6) networks and technological innovation
in firms, (7) the effects of R&D tax incentives on firms' R&D expenditures.
