Inspired from The R&D Scoreboard (Department of Trade and Industry, UK),
STEPI (Science and Technology Policy Institute) has published Korean R&D
Scoreboard since 2002. This annual report on R&D investments of Korean firms
refers to company reports and can release data of individual companies, which
enables users to analyze the data in user-oriented ways.
Among the changes that the report introduces in this year, it is worth to
mention the expansion of the DB to cover 750 large listed firms from 550 ones
of the last year. The coverage is large enough to include firms of sales of at
least about 50 billion wons, equivalent about 50 million US dollar. This group of
firms covers a significant portion of Korean firms's R&D investments and
captures well characteristics of Korean R&D investments.
R&D patterns that are studied in many angles (by industry, by firm size, by
kind of stock markets and so on) will provide readers a deeper understanding of
Korean firms's characteristics regarding R&D investments.
