Abstract

The objectives of this study are to analyze the feature of industrial map of
LED and Photovoltaic Industry and to suggest government supporting policy to
strengthen those industries belonging to Korea New Growth Engines. In order to
fulfill these objectives, we reviewed several methodology of knowledge map
such as technology roadmap and knowledge map, and also integrated the
perspective of sectoral innovation system(SIS) to develop new structure of
industrial map.
With the perspective of industrial map, we attempted to figure out the
characteristics of industrial map of LED and photovotaic industry. According to
the result, the government R&D input preceded and boosted up the R&D
activity of private sector. The R&D inputs of the related industries fluctuated up
and down according to the business cycle and market condition more than those
of government. Alsor, we found that there is relatively weak interdependence in
R&D linkage between government sector and private sector.
This study is believed to help understanding the features in the industrial map
of R&D input and output between government and industry, and providing
policy implications of how to nurture the related industries. Especially,
collaboration of innovation actors such as government, research institute and
company is crucial for strengthening the related industry, and the government
supporting policy such as human resource development, coordinating of role of
actors in R&D activity needs to be much reinforced.
