Abstract

This study is on the university research centers. R&D investment of Korean
government has been increasing dramatically, and R&D activities of university soared
too. So the university research centers and the governmental program supporting the
university research centers are facing the environmental change. They are supposed to
be changed their role and operating system.
Previous studies about research centers have focused on the governance and
financing system in Korea, and there are few which have investigated the operation
system of the research centers. The purpose of this studies is analysing the operation
status of the university research centers, and how the research centers effected on the
researchers activity pattern and the organizing level between the University researchers
in university. As a conclusion of the analysis, we suggested the new government
programs supporting the centers.
To analyze the status of the university research centers and those effect, We utilized
various data such as the surveys asking to center chiefs and the professors involving
in the centers.
