Abstract

This research concludes three-year research efforts by KRIHS on developing econometrics and optimization models evaluating socioeconomic and user effects of transportation infrastructure investment projects in Korea.
The first year's research focused on formulation of a combined land-use and transportation model that analyzes region-wide macroeconomic changes inhibited by new transportation infrastructure investment. During the second year, the first year's model was applied to Seohaean Expressway investment project. However, the model still had the limitations on evaluating national infrastructure development plan, so it was necessary to upgrade the model to consider the supply(government) and demand sides simultaneously.
In this regard, this year's research combines macroeconomic analysis of the previous two years' researches with a bilevel optimization model that seeks the best configuration of the road and rail network minimizing the user- and system-wide cost measures such as vehicle operating costs, travel time costs, accidents costs, environment costs, and maintenance costs. A computer software prototype containing both models with a graphical user interface was developed as a final product of this year's research. (The rest is omitted.)
