President Park Chung-hee recently paid a visit to the Korea-Germany Technical School in Busan. The school was established as a result of a joint agreement signed a few years ago by President Park and the president of West Germany. President Park said that educators should focus on providing creative education and he urged them to view the articles of the National Education Charter as initiatives that they should carry out, in practice, in their classrooms in order to contribute to industrial development. The school’s students have won many prizes in World Skills competitions. President Park also visited the Ulsan Engineering College in Ulsan, where he expressed his hope for further cooperation among industry and academia. He also said that the government will do its part to provide appropriate support for the students who deserve it.
Pilot apartment houses in Yeouido were completed after 13 months of construction. President Park instructed city officials to build many apartment houses because individuals face a number of difficulties in terms of time, land and capital when building their own houses. Twenty-four apartment buildings were built in an area measuring 33,000 pyeong (3.3 square meters) along with kindergartens, elementary schools and private institutions for children.
