This article defined two methods to measure ‘downgrading employment’ and analysed it's main factors for korean youth workers. Downgrading employment means working in a job which needs a lower level of education than oneself's degree. We use two methods of measurement: one define it by ‘statistical method’ and another by the subjective assessment of respondents.
According to the statistical method, 42.7% of young workers are found in a situation of downgrading employment. But only 22.0% of them feel a situation of downgrading employment. Downgrading employment is more frequent within women, younger age group, non regular employee, medium and small enterprises's workers. The civil state, qualification related to oneself's job, training experience are also factors which have a influence on a downgrading employment.
