Abstract

This study presents sociological analysis on changes in job consciousness centering on the recognition of importance of various job characteristics. Possible influences of increase in opportunities for higher education, changes in social structure due to the job structure changes in knowledge -information society, postmaterialistic value, increase in importance of leisure, cultural changes due to formation of generational subculture were presented as theoretical explanation. The result of the analysis usign the 2006 KRIVET survey data, younger group, higher education level group and professionals tended to set high value on internal and external job characteristics. The influence of change in social structure on job consciousness was observed. And also the postmaterialistic value had a positive influence on the recognition of internal job characteristic importance and the tendency to put more importance on leisure had positive influence on the recognition of both internal and external job characteristic importance.
